Throwback Thursday

If right now you are asked to think of one of the inspiring moment in life, what comes to your mind?

Back to me, I would probably recall the Singapore's National Achiever Congress (NAC) 2014 that I attended last month and I was feeling beyond blessed to be able to witness many many speakers in live, especially Nick Vujicic, the guy with no arms and legs talking as close as 2 m in front of me.

I should confess that Nick is too amazing and he inspires me thaaaaaaaaat much with his short but powerful talk about life, how he made the jump although he had been so desperate and felt like giving up his life for more than once. Well I mean who wouldn't be discouraged if being put in Nick's shoes, having to encounter countless mockeries and being looked down by others everyday. Many would probably just give up and keep blaming everyone but themselves. But Nick, he's different.Although he came to realise that the possibility for him to be a speaker is close to 0, he eventually succeeded because he knew that that close to zero as in decimal is infinite. It can be 0.1, 0.111, 0.11111, 0.111111111... It's limitless :)

Well at least that's how I can describe about him after immersed myself in the roughly-one-hour talk. I should probably grab his "Limitless" book and come with greater ideas about Nick next time while applying more to my own self :)
But yes, possibility is really limitless if we try to project ourselves more confidently. We are all bound by nothing but by our own visionary wall. Either to break or not to break, it depends on us. Similarly in every action that we're gonna take daily, it's just as simple as yes or no, dare or not, and want or not. But yeah..implications and consequences are always the harder parts. We should always have to work hard on our brain, let our analytical mind work, and come with the rightest sense before coming to the yes or no decision. Interesting, huh?

Yellow Fellow

Nothing is eternal, even the soulless flowers aren't. But while they're blooming, why don't we cherish the beauty?

Sometimes we are too caught up with our own gluttony that we take many for granted.
Count your blessings ppl!
Look around and take a good care of them while they're still there :)

20880

So...
Weeks have gone by and I haven't received any news yet.
Some people say no news is a good news, but how can one not be curious about the happenings and the future?
How can one take an action and simply forget about it? Isn't it ignorant to neglect the outcome of what he/she has done?
Ok it's getting out of topic actually.
Hahaha.
But you have no idea how it makes me flutter each day just hoping to receive the news..oh really...
Dear God, please give me the strength to believe that I have done my best and that I deserve the best O:)

The Right Moves

Happy kid got her new reading collections! :)

Well, these 3 novels are apparently not newly published, and in fact they are my very first secondhand ones. For school textbooks it's already so common for students to buy used books from seniors, and I often do that too as it saves me much, provided that they are in good conditions. But for novels, yesterday was my first time.
I know that there are ample secondhand book stores in Bras Basah Complex which I never thought to visit before. But yesterday's book fair had simply caught my attention. Tee-hee. And most of the books were actually in excellent condition.

Then I realised that we all probably have those books that we only read once, then we abandoned them in our shelves. Aren't they a waste of papers?

But I won't blame anyone who collects them as a hobby since I'm in that category too. When I buy original books, I often get reluctant to give them away.
But while there are still many unlucky people outside who long to buy books or have to consider any other priority before purchasing new books, why don't we donate or sell ours in lower price?

We all know that books consist of papers and papers come from woods. Though we pay for the process of turning them into papers, isn't it selfish to exploit all those trees that can actually protect our earth from global warming and clean the atmosphere?
So if buying secondhand books can not only save money but also save the earth, then why not?
It's time to go green, people! :)

For your information, the book fair will be at Novena Square from 10th to 16th February 2014.

TIME

"Time is money"
Remember that idiom we learnt in primary school?

Well for me..time is even more precious than money.
It is something that can't be tuned back, unlike money which can be earned all over again by working or selling your assets.

It is something that if we're given another minute of it, will result in different action and aftermath in our life.
It is something that if given to a doctor a few minutes of it, will save a life.

At the end of the day, the seminar speaker will tell you that time management is one of those things you gotta have to succeed in life.
Well it indeed is.

Sometimes I might get so busy and ask myself, "Why am I getting myself into all these tasks? Why am I putting myself in such a tight schedule? Why did I immerse myself in all these activities, if I can choose to simply relax at home?"
Well..it's for the sake of learning, gaining new insight, sharing ideas, socialising - or simply call it 'living'.
It's because we need varieties in life, just like students needing extracurricular activities outside from their academics life.
We need some challenges because smooth sea doesn't make a skilful sailor.
But all those bunches of activities might not be accomplished in such a balance without good time management.

I believe we all have those days when we wish we have more than 24 hours a day to complete all of our tasks, and sometimes multitasking might get our brain so exhausted.
But with good time management from the beginning, we might not get ourselves extra burden at the end of the day.

I personally think that time management is about appreciating time beyond any circumstances.
It is to make use of every second wisely.
Each day can be made useful by filling it with daily routines, and the order should be organised based on different levels of priority.
If we consistently feed ourselves with daily dose of tasks, we might not get so overwhelmed on only certain deadlines.

To end my post, I will further add this "26 Time Management Hacks I Wish I'd Known at 20" that I read from other website. See below:

26 Time Management Hacks I Wish I'd Known at 20

See you on my next post and I hope we all can appreciate our time and make use of everyday wisely! :)

Keep calm and buckle down!

My First of July?
Hmmmm....
Not a good starter for the second half of 2013..
but perhaps another lesson to learn.
The whole day had been full of hustle-bustle..
and i was personally liable for my own fault.
But thank to His mercy..everything was settled just decently in the end.

So how was the first half of your 2013?
Did things go the way you projected them to be?
If the answer is no...don't worry!
We still have 183-minus-1 days to go :)
If you think you'd been fooling around...now it's time to take it more seriously.
Remember that chances don't come repetitively, only regrets do.
If you think you'd mustered out your best, but still not enough...don't give up!
Maybe the right moment hasn't come, not just yet.

Sooo...keep calm & buckle down!
All the best, people!

Let's get connected

When we measure the distance from Singapore to Los Angeles and think of how many hours do people actually spend to reach there by plane, the world is surely big. When we compare Eastern culture to that of Western, we know that the world is wide and divided into many, even though parts of those barriers had been knocked down by what we call 'globalization'.
But then, when you are having your vacation in another part of the world which is far far away and you bump into an old friend of your hometown in Indonesia, you will think "Oh wow, the world is only that small, eh? How could it be so coincidental?"
Yeah, for me myself, the world has actually turns narrower. Without your realization, when one door opens for you, you will be led to another door. That's how we earn connections. From one person, you can get to know the others. But sometimes, you never realize that two of your friends that you think have no relation, are actually friends to each other too. Small world, isn't it?
Lately I've met some people that are simply awesome and inspiring to me. And after a while i found out that actually those people were already connected to each other. See? Now we know how crucial connections are.
Also, being inspired is surely common. But when you are the one who inspire others, that certainly brings contentment. Well I hate to break this to you, but to be frank, all this time I've never actually earned  my ultimate complacency yet. But this does not make me an ungrateful person. No, don't get it wrong. To a certain extent, of course I do have that pride towards what I've achieved in the past which is not much. But I still have so so so many goals to achieve and one of them is to inspire other people! Hehe. So I'll pursue them step by step and keep my fingers crossed, hopefully could inspire you people someday :)

By the way..it's been so hazy here in Singapore since last Monday (17/6/13). HAZE HAZE HAZE. It's all we heard people grumbling about. The PSI (Pollutant Standard Index) even surged up to 401 which was beyond hazardous according to the NEA(National Environment Agency). We all know that the haze came from Riau-Indonesia and Singaporeans had been cursing Indonesians for their deeds. Meanwhile, a group of people look at this disaster as an irony, claiming that since most of those firms behind the haze are foreign Singaporean firms in Indonesia, no wonder haze flows back to the country of origin. But still, since the plantations and burnt forest are located in Indonesia, it's the responsibility of Indonesian government to tackle away the haze, right? Alright, instead of cursing one another, both countries should work together to combat this. For today, let's be thankful since it's not that hazy anymore and we all can carry on our activities without having to trouble ourselves with masks. Did they actually manage to create the artificial rain to reduce the haze?

Then, as usual, when a trending issue is being raised, there will always be those people who try to make funny videos out of the situation. LOL. So here it is - The Haze Song. Enjoy!

Oh là là

Life is literally good when you can sleep early at night, wake up early the next day to do jogging and have dim-sum afterwards. Yay! My mid term break officially begins. Let's revert to healthier lifestyle ;)
Time flies so so so fast when deadlines and exams are scratched all over the calender. Why do I feel like day by day suddenly passes by this fast? But a lot had been happening recently. Things haven't been quite the same..like my life is turning 89 degrees away. Ok. I was just exaggerating. Hehe. Well..but really, I think I do have lost some of those sweet fragments that I had back then. But on the other hand, I have fulfilled one of my targets as well. Then in the meantime, i still have this one thing that was so random, it struck me out of nowhere and i'm still figuring out how to deal with it.

By the way, have you ever felt sorry for yourself when you opt for the wrong option?
I believe you do.
"Life is always about choices. From the time you wake up till the time to doze, only you yourself can take control. Either right or wrong, you've got to fight till the end. When it's too late to realize, just show your best, pray hard, have faith, and try to turn the bad luck into sth better", so this was what I told myself.

Find your way, shine your way

Well..today was definitely not my day. But this "Shine Your Way" by Owl City somehow cheered me up. Hehe. It's the soundtrack of "The Croods", but I haven't watched the movie yet. Anyway I hope this piece of song that I shared would lighten up your day as well. ;)
Bonne nuit

Cheers!

This evening I bumped into an adorable little kid as I stepped my feet on the very entrance of my apartment building. He looked inquisitive enough and kept asking his dad about this and that. The boy uttered, "Daddy, why don't we just use the stairs? Why are we so lazy?" Well isn't that hilarious and too wise to come from a little boy? Haha. I grinned at them and his dad responded me cordially. "Yes, you should walk the stairs, it's good for you", laughed his dad. Then as we walked into the lift, it's more hilarious to know that they live on the 10th floor. Definitely not a distance to use stairs. I knew the boy whisper something about me, but i don't know what. All I know is that I heard the dad talk to him "speak louder, she can't hear you". LOL. Then the lift reached level 7. We said goodbyes and that's the end of story.

Hahaha. This is it. The little thing that amuses me.

Kids are simply amazing you know...that phase when you are so naïve and curious about everything. So energized and no shame at all in becoming whatever they wanna be :)
Well that's what we should learn from them. Stay curious, stay eager to learn ;)
